In these days, enterprises are more and more confronted to fast
changing and turbulent markets. In order to remain competitive, they
have to quickly adapt themselves to these new situations. The
integration solutions employed in such an environment enable the
required agility, by using a loose and flexible integration
architecture. We propose an integration solution based on the
concept of propagating data changes from one information system to
the affected information systems. This paper focuses on the
question: how data from other data services can be accessed and
exploited to enhance a data change propagation system. These
services are based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA) using
XML technologies (e.g. SOAP). We developed the Data Service
Description Language (DSDL) to define the data structures of the
data service. This description is used to create the above mentioned
Transformation Scripts as well as to generate requests for accessing
remote data. A layered system approach is introduced to facilitate
both the architecture and its implementation.
